ENGI network started as a project in 2008 funded by the European Commission European Refugee Fund (ERF). Its aim is to improve services for Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) in the member states of the European Union through guardianship development and assistance to practitioners and their organizations.

ENGI emphasizes the importance of parental responsibility for safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of minors and promotes guardianship as an instrument to this end.
